Adored is not contact
A woman can be celebrated in public language and still have nobody who knows where her actual life hurts.
Some women are not overlooked at all. That would almost be cleaner. They are beautiful, praised, invited, greeted with little eruptions of affection. They get the angel, the gorgeous girl, the heart reaction, the bright public warmth women are so good at giving each other. There is no shortage of approval around them. And still, something in them stays untouched.
Because being adored is not the same thing as being known. Those experiences wear similar clothes from a distance, but they do very different work in the body. Admiration can flood a woman’s surface while leaving her interior almost completely uncollected.
She can have messages. Compliments. Plans that almost happen. People who mean well in low-maintenance doses. What she does not have is the person who catches the change in her voice, the person who notices when her silence stops being neutral, the person she can call when something real happens and does not want to arrive polished.
That kind of absence has a humiliating texture because there is so much evidence on paper that she should not feel lonely. The nervous system is less sentimental than paper. It knows the difference between being liked and being located. It knows the difference between praise and contact. It knows when a woman is everyone’s darling and nobody’s first call.
So I think we should speak more honestly about decorative love. It flatters. It warms the skin. It does not always feed the deeper self. A woman can be admired all the way into emotional malnourishment if nobody is close enough to carry any real weight with her.
